The centrepiece of this project is a large lake, designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the site and create a tranquil haven for wildlife, making it the jewel in the crown of the development. With no mains water connection to that part of the site, a borehole was a far more economical means of filling the lake initially, and then keeping it topped up for years to come.
Features:
From the initial prognosis, it took two years before the site was ready for our part of the work. Throughout that time, we maintained regular contact with Andrew, gaining an appreciation for the passion he had poured into this project. The ongoing communication helped us understand the importance of our role in bringing his vision to life.
We were delighted to finally make Andrew’s dream a reality in late September 2024 and Helen has this to say,
‘’It was clear from the start that this was a passion project for Andrew. This lake was the culmination of a long and sometimes frustrating development process for him, and the start of a new chapter for his caravan site. Had this borehole been unsuccessful, the cost of supplying mains water to the lake would have been a game changer. Our drillers did us proud, providing a first-class service, as well as the dramatic artesian flow Andrew was hoping to see’’
Once the lake was full, Mark manufactured a bespoke well head to control the strong artesian flow, enabling Andrew to switch the water supply on and off, as required. As there is no ongoing charge for the water use, we have advised Andrew to run fresh water into the lake on a regular basis, even during cooler months. This aerates the water, keeping it free from algae, maintaining the aesthetic. Fish also thrive on fresh bubbles!
Upon completion, Andrew only has praise for Helen and Mark and our team at SIS.
‘’SIS came recommended to me by several of their previous customers. They have a solid reputation locally and I didn’t bother getting quotes from anywhere else. Nothing has been too much trouble, and I am delighted with the end results.’’
Andrew is now landscaping the area and we’re looking forward to seeing the lake come to life in the Spring.
