Areas known for historical coal mining can be categorised as high risk for development. Old mine entries, shafts, tunnels and unauthorised coal extraction can destabilise the ground and any structure to be built above.

Our customer, Rich, regularly develops sites in such areas. SIS developed a long standing relationship with Rich more than 10 years ago and we’ve been his go to drilling partner ever since.

When earmarking sites for potential development, Rich emails Helen a site plan and we’re able to perform a basic, desk-based study. This proactive approach identifies potential issues early on, which is invaluable when assessing the feasibility of the project.

Rich has this to say about working with SIS,

‘’I’ve worked in the construction industry for most of my life and I know a good company when I work with one. Helen and her team have a lot of knowledge and experience, and their early evaluation saves me time and money in the long run. Every time I’ve worked with them, the process has been hassle free and they’re an honest company that I’m happy to put my trust in.’’

Helen says Rich is the perfect customer and one who has headed her advice,

‘’I told Rich many years ago the same thing I tell all our customers - call me in the first instance, before buying any land for development. Although we rarely find a substantive concern, sites in high-risk areas are not without their problems and forewarned is forearmed. We’re on the side of our customers and want their projects to be as successful as possible’’

We look forward to working with Rich on his next project.
